Why Poetry is important
Yes meaning in poetry is important. Poetry is important for the teaching of writing and reading. Poetry enables teachers to teach their students how to write, read, and understand any text. Poetry can give people a healthy outlet for surging emotions. Reading original poetry aloud in class can foster trust and empathy in the classroom community, while also enhance speaking and listening skills that are often neglected in high school literature classes. Poetry is a type of literary art form that can be associated with a whole array of ideas and emotions. Many poets throughout history have incorporated their political views and their personal thoughts through the use of poetry. The simple act of picking up a pen and pad of paper to write down whatever you are feeling can also be a very exhilarating experience that can free your mind of many worries of everyday lives. I think reading poetry and understanding it is different for everyone. We often speak and write in extremely literal terms, because we want to make sure we are understood.Great poetry is not literal, almost by definition. As art, it shows us a higher truth that is expressed in a nonliteral, nonlinear way, a way that is completely original to the artist who has composed it.
